Mr. Mayor, you're BUS-ted! Why didn't the now-angry Mayor of New Orleans deploy these school buses during the initial evacuations? Now he is quick to criticize the federal government for its supposed inaction. Hey, Mr. Mayor, you may want to step out from in front those national TV cameras and instead look into the nearest mirror if you're looking for someone to blame for this situation.

Has there ever been a time in the past after a hurricane (or other natural disaster) when it was necessary to evacuate those displaced to other states? especially in such large numbers? Tens of thousands have been taken to the surrounding states. I don't ever remember such a scenario prior to last week. There are literally millions who have been displaced or rendered homeless by this monster storm Katrina. Which brings me to make this point. How can we point fingers of blame when the disaster area is the size of the United Kingdom? There has never in the U.S. been a calamity of this magnitude. How could we have been prepared to rescue and/or get help to everyone affected in an area of that size? I know there has been horrible suffering and terrible consequences to this storm, but to blame anyone other than Mother Nature is really so absurd. Can such criticism be considered anything other than irresponsible, base partisan politics.
